Now on to the juice!

If you don’t take anything else away from this email, take this away— DO MORE THINGS.

Here’s a snazzy chart that explains my statement:

To be successful, you need to do more. Sounds simple. Maybe even reckless. VERY anti productivity guru schedule hacking and VERY unsexy, BUT the data and studies prove this.

Study ONE:

“The Matthew Effect”

Findings: People who take action and gain early success (even minor) are more likely to attract more opportunities, recognition, and resources over time.

Example: An entrepreneur who builds a small, successful project gains credibility and funding for bigger projects

Study TWO:

“The Luck Surface Area Theory”

Findings: The more you take action, the more you expose yourself to potential “lucky” opportunities

Example: People who publish more, network more and engage in projects tend to have more “doors” open for them in life.

Study THREE:

“Pareto Principle" (the 80/20 rule)

Findings: Studies on high level entrepreneurs have shown that 20% of people drive 80% of new projects/ businesses and, in return, capture a the majority of the success.

What this means: People that take action, naturally filter to the top.

Study FOUR:

“Grit and Persistence” (Angela Duckworths research)

Findings: Long-term perseverance corresponds with much better outcomes in careers, entrepreneurship, and personal growth.

BASICALLY, The ability to just keep taking action leads to compounding results over time.

Okay, that was a lot. The point I’m trying to make here is that the more you say “yes” and DO THINGS, the more likely you are to be successful at something.

It might not even be what you initially started doing, BUT along the way, you built up momentum, connections and a network that compounded into what you found success in.

I had a great chat the other day with a buddy of mine that is caught in this cycle of THINKING more than DOING.

Here’s what he said:

“…I psyche myself out and think that my plate is full. When in reality, it's probably not full…I think it's really a mind game for me.
‘Oh I can't do this because XYZ is already on my plate. I don't want to add something else.’
Also there's the initial step. Like it's hard to get over whatever mental hurdles pop up when starting something new. Maybe it's a fear of the unknown at play. Idk what l'm about to do.
Let me try to figure it out so that I do it right or I don't mistakes. Etc etc”

I don’t know about you, but I’ve said those exact same things to myself. And I don’t think that my buddy or me are alone in that.

The difference is that I got sick of not being in the game. I got sick of WANTING instead of HAVING or ACHIEVING.

It was a realization that every failure is actually just a step in the direction of the end goal; success. It’s a prerequisite. NONE of it is a waste of time. It’s all cumulative.

You just have to decide whether you want it bad enough to bet on yourself.

Success and failure can truly be boiled down to one thing: Action.

Not sure what action to take? Totally get that. I’ve been there. In many ways I’m still there. Shoot me an email back and let’s chat. I’d like to help. For free.

Until next time...

Stay in the fight,

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 2.6min Read Because I don’t know if what I’m about to do is going to work. But I think it’s important that I at least try. So if this IS the last one... I appreciate you more than you know. Thank you for tuning in. Ok. Now that I got the hook out of the way (and possibly got you to keep reading)... I’m going to keep writing these emails. The only question is whether the email platform I’m building to replace the one I pay for every year will actually...

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 3.5min Read October 16, 2025 was my last day as a police officer. Listen to this instead: HERE As you're reading this, it's been a full year since I left a career I thought I'd spend 30 years in. I didn't want to spend those 30 years there, but I didn't feel like I had another choice.BUT... I did believe I was meant to do bigger things. So in the background, for those 10 years, I experimented. I tinkered. I chased a lot of shiny objects. So if you...

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 2.8min Read If you haven’t seen the movie Slumdog Millionaire... watch it when you can. I’ve referenced it a couple of times over the years, and I believe that movie is a brilliant representation of what is available to each and every one of us in life. I’m not saying everyone is going to make a million dollars or end up on a game show like that. What I’m saying is that as we go through life, every experience we have, everything we go through,...
