Get Caught In The Act Of Excellence

Happy Sunday!

I have a handful of new subscribers here (THANK YOU, truly!!) so I wanted to pop in for a quick breakdown of what Sunday Doughnuts is all about.

5 things to know:

  1. This email might be written by me, but it is for YOU. If you want to hear more on one thing and less on another. Let me know. I’m here to share the play by play of building an empire while working a full time career so that YOU can do it as well.
  2. My goal is to be as completely transparent and honest as possible with what’s working and most importantly what’s NOT. Entrepreneurship is hard and frustrating AND exhausting… but it’s worth it… and there’s NOTHING that can build autonomy, ownership and wealth like entrepreneurship… it can also WRECK YOU. So the more I share, the more you can avoid getting wrecked.
  3. By reading this email, you’ve entered into a crew that’s FULL of motivation. We are relentless in our pursuit of greatness and dedicated to moving the needle forward each and every day. Most of us with families, full time jobs and not enough time in the day… but we make it work because we believe in what we’re building.
  4. Nothing is off the table. I talk real estate, start ups, business acquisitions, AI, coding, writing, marketing, you name it. It’s all important to understand even if you aren’t directly involved in them all. Everything you learn is just another tool in your tool belt as a business owner/ founder. The more tools you have, the more valuable you become.
  5. Entrepreneurship can be lonely, but you are not alone. We’re in this together and I’m here to support you however I can. I’m still very much trying to reach the level of success I seek, and hopefully what I share can help you reach your level.💪

Now for the donut bites of today —

What I'll cover today:

  1. Caught in the act of excellence
  2. Entrepreneurial Parenting
  3. The AI Juice
  4. Mystery-preneur link

I had the honor of sitting down with
Austin Linney for a podcast the other day. And dang was it fun! His new podcast “Construct Your Life” is launching and I hopped on as an early guest. We talked about a ton of deep topics related to building your dream, but one of the things hit extra hard.

I shared with him that I often have a ton of “dad guilt” for all the extra work I’m doing to build my businesses and reach the goals I have. It almost puts me in a state of urgency to reach these goals so that I don’t feel as guilty anymore. And what he said blew me away...

“The story is being written right now and while you might be in a rush to get there, I’m not, because I want them to see you in the act”

Here’s the clip.

He later went on to describe an incredibly impactful commencement speech by Dr. Rick Rigsby. REALLY worth watching the whole thing, but I made a clip of the best quote right here.

Bite #2

How do you share entrepreneur / business / financial topics with your kids?

My oldest is 6 and she’s getting to an age where she sees things that she wants or places that she wants to go. All of which cost money. The other day she told me she wanted to go to Italy. I said “me too, babe!”

But then that got me thinking that this was an opportunity to share some basic business lessons of creating something out of nothing and making the money needed for the life she wants.

And what I found is that there are VERY few resources out there to approach this subject. Very few resources to teach youth entrepreneurship concepts. So now I’m working on building them.

If YOU are a parent AND an entrepreneur, I’d love to hear from you. How are you sharing what you do so to your kids? How are you teaching them these concepts?

Bite #3

No need to be overwhelmed by all the new developments with AI going on. Let’s just take it one bit at a time by slowly integrating useful tools into everyday life.

Here are two SUPER simple and basic ways you can use AI

  1. Recipe finder --> Here's a prompt I used to find a good tuna salad recipe... And it WAS good

2. Since AI has a text window, very similar to text messages— People are treating it like a text. Short questions, short requests, not very descriptive. If you provide lame prompts you get lame responses. Instead, do this:

Use the voice to text option . Hit record and dump all your thoughts and questions into the chat via that recording. It will turn your voice into text and you’ll now have an extremely descriptive prompt. Boom! 💥

Seriously, it’s that easy. While there is SO much more you can do with this tech, you have to start somewhere.

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 2.6min Read Because I don’t know if what I’m about to do is going to work. But I think it’s important that I at least try. So if this IS the last one... I appreciate you more than you know. Thank you for tuning in. Ok. Now that I got the hook out of the way (and possibly got you to keep reading)... I’m going to keep writing these emails. The only question is whether the email platform I’m building to replace the one I pay for every year will actually...

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 3.5min Read October 16, 2025 was my last day as a police officer. Listen to this instead: HERE As you're reading this, it's been a full year since I left a career I thought I'd spend 30 years in. I didn't want to spend those 30 years there, but I didn't feel like I had another choice.BUT... I did believe I was meant to do bigger things. So in the background, for those 10 years, I experimented. I tinkered. I chased a lot of shiny objects. So if you...

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 2.8min Read If you haven’t seen the movie Slumdog Millionaire... watch it when you can. I’ve referenced it a couple of times over the years, and I believe that movie is a brilliant representation of what is available to each and every one of us in life. I’m not saying everyone is going to make a million dollars or end up on a game show like that. What I’m saying is that as we go through life, every experience we have, everything we go through,...
