How hungry are you??

1.8min Read

I’m absolutely starving!

And when you’re hungry, you eat!

That’s sounds pretty obvious, but the way I’m about to explain it puts a whole new spin on that concept.

But first I’ll give you the inspiration for this story.

I started the year off with a 48 hour fast. Now I’m not really a fasting kind of guy. I stay pretty dialed in with my diet normally so there’s never really a NEED to fast. I’ll just go on a “cut” as opposed to maintenance.

But I recently connected with a group of dudes that were doing it, so why the heck not. I’ll get after it.

It was great! Seriously. Horrible, but great! I’ll go a full 72 next time. But that’ll be another newsletter.

As you can imagine, I was STARVING! Like major STARVING.

But I wasn’t about to give up on this fast. Instead, what did I do? I set myself up for an incredible feast to break the fast.

In my fasted hunger, absolutely everything sounded good, so I ordered it.

My buddy was eating these premier protein waffles that looked amazing so I ordered those to be delivered one day.

I stopped by a nutrition shop and grabbed a box of protein donuts that they sell there to have later.

And of course, to truly break the fast, I set up a delivery of my favorite pizza. I only eat pizza once a month and this felt like the right time. (More about my theory behind eating pizza here)

As I’m making these split second purchases without any regard, I had a realization… (Brining the story home here i promise)

I was INSANELY hungry, so literally nothing was getting in my way to setting up a successful and glorious feast.

On normal days, it’s a different story. You know the drill:

Me:
Hey babe, what sounds good for dinner?

My wife:
Hmm, I don’t know, what do you want?

Me:
Not sure, was gonna see what you wanted and then go from there

My wife:
I’m not super hungry, just make whatever and I’ll have some.

Me:
Ok… I’ll just make some scrambled eggs.

I know you’ve been there. That’s what it looks like to not be hungry OR decisive.

It’s all just passive.

Waiting to see what my wife wanted, standing in front of the fridge with it wide open just staring.

That’s how most people live their lives. PASSIVELY. Standing in front of the “open fridge” just staring and waiting.

But when you’re really freaking hungry, YOU GET AFTER IT.

NOTHING will get in your way.

Hey man, wanna hang out after work?
— Nope, I’m hungry!

Hey man, you mind doing this thing for me?
— Sorry, count me in another time!

Hey, what are you up to?
— I’m hungry and on a mission! I’ll catch up with you later.

You see where I’m going with this?

When you want something bad enough, there isn’t anything that will keep you from it.

That’s all that’s on your mind.

You’re so hungry that you lay awake in bed thinking about your next moves.

You are almost consumed with the desire to fill that hunger and get after it.

And until you REALLY feel what it means to be that hungry, you won’t take the action.

Your hunger is going to come from your WHY.

If you can identify the root of WHY you want to do what you’re trying to do, you’ll put purpose to your pursuit.

For me, it’s to literally change the trajectory of my family financially.

I vividly remember in high school having an eviction notice taped to the door of our house.

I grew up knowing that money was tight. So I sought security and comfort in my career… but when those basic needs were taken care of, I realized that it was as good as it was ever going to get. There was a ceiling.

If I wanted to live a basic, mediocre life, I’d ride the wave until retirement. Argue over the 2% increases every year and fill out my paid time off requests like everyone else.

But I’m not satisfied with that.
I’m not satisfied with someone else owning my time and arguing over pennies while cost of living increases exponentially.

I want MORE for my family. To legitimately change the future of my family for generations to come.

That’s the mission and I’m STARVING.

Here’s how you can find your hunger:

  1. Write down all the things that you want to do, buy, experience, build, etc. ALL of the things swirling in your mind that you might normally say “one day I’ll ….” Write them all down!
  2. As you’re going through, which one (or maybe multiple) fire you up the most? Is it taking your kids to school every day? Is it buying a home for you and your family? Is it traveling more? Is it being able to afford nicer dinners out with your wife? Think through this.
  3. Now that you’re honing in on your WHY, now you have to figure out the HOW. I can’t answer that for you but I will say that it’s not going to be making money for someone else. If you aren’t making money for yourself, you’re making it for someone else. It’s easier said than done obviously, but you have to start somewhere. Personally I’m in love with the opportunities through acquiring small businesses like storage, lawn care, accounting, etc. BUT I also enjoy building from scratch. Hopefully through this newsletter I can provide you with as much value as possible to get your empire going.

This is the little section of my newsletters I shoot out to try and stir up some convos. I don't think newsletters should be one sided, so this is my attempt to break that standard. I am genuinely interested in your goals and how I can help you reach them through entrepreneurship. If you feel comfortable sharing, I'd love to hear them!

Until next time...

Stay in the fight,

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 2.6min Read Because I don’t know if what I’m about to do is going to work. But I think it’s important that I at least try. So if this IS the last one... I appreciate you more than you know. Thank you for tuning in. Ok. Now that I got the hook out of the way (and possibly got you to keep reading)... I’m going to keep writing these emails. The only question is whether the email platform I’m building to replace the one I pay for every year will actually...

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 3.5min Read October 16, 2025 was my last day as a police officer. Listen to this instead: HERE As you're reading this, it's been a full year since I left a career I thought I'd spend 30 years in. I didn't want to spend those 30 years there, but I didn't feel like I had another choice.BUT... I did believe I was meant to do bigger things. So in the background, for those 10 years, I experimented. I tinkered. I chased a lot of shiny objects. So if you...

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 2.8min Read If you haven’t seen the movie Slumdog Millionaire... watch it when you can. I’ve referenced it a couple of times over the years, and I believe that movie is a brilliant representation of what is available to each and every one of us in life. I’m not saying everyone is going to make a million dollars or end up on a game show like that. What I’m saying is that as we go through life, every experience we have, everything we go through,...
