I just quit my job…

2.2min Read

I burned the boats 🔥

I just resigned from my full time job and I’m 80% excited, 20% scared out of my mind…

There used to be an ancient military tactic where the invading army would burn 3 of the 4 sides of an area they were conquering, leaving only one side open for escape.

The next logical question here is— why not burn all 4 sides??

The reason—
Because when all 4 sides of the area are burned and there is literally no escaping, the army defending has no other choice but to fight to the death.

It’s a powerful dynamic and one that most of us won’t ever feel in our lives.

We like to get all snuggled into a level of comfort in everything we do.

That’s totally natural. I get it. I also like warm showers, soft beds, good food and the inside thermostat set perfectly.

What I’m talking about here is more than that.

I’m talking about the trajectory of your life. Our desire for comfort bleeds into the careers that we choose and the passions we DON’T pursue.

Just as we would seek that escape route when being attacked, we also seek the security of a job… even if it’s soul sucking.

We tell ourselves it’s okay because

“We get health insurance”
“We have benefits”
“We have a comfortable salary”
“We get vacation days”

All logical.
They all make sense.

But how long are you willing to endure a job that you don’t like just for those “perks”?

How old are you now? How long until you plan to retire? Do you really feel okay giving up the rest of those years spending the majority of your day, week and year in a job you’re not in love with?

I wasn’t.

And I had felt this for a long time.

A STRONG feeling like I was literally being pulled out of this profession.

So I decided to listen. To lean into the direction of the pull instead of battling it.

And the second I did, It felt right.

Tons of unknown. Tons of risk.

But hear me out on this one—

You can always find another paycheck. You CANT always chase your passions. People say that if you love what you do, you don’t work a day in your life. But very few people ever live that out. If you are one of the rare people presented with an opportunity to do that— you need to take it. You’d regret it if you didn’t.

I’m definitely not trying to convince you to burn your boats. You have to do this on your time.

What i am sharing with you is that I NEVER would have thought this was how my story was going to go.

I planned on keeping this job until the transition made PERFECT sense.

But that’s the thing… timing is not always going to be perfect. In fact it rarely is. If that fastball straight down the middle arrives, you’ve gotta swing.

Whatever it is that you love to do
Whatever it is that you are passionate about
Whatever it is that wakes you up excited to work on

Figure out a way to do MORE of that.

That’s the first step.
The rest will fall into place… theoretically. 😉

That’s all I have for today. I appreciate you more than you know. I’m looking forward to sharing with you each twist and turn of this WILD journey. Hopefully to inspire you in some way with your journey.

Until next time...

Stay in the fight,

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 2.6min Read Because I don’t know if what I’m about to do is going to work. But I think it’s important that I at least try. So if this IS the last one... I appreciate you more than you know. Thank you for tuning in. Ok. Now that I got the hook out of the way (and possibly got you to keep reading)... I’m going to keep writing these emails. The only question is whether the email platform I’m building to replace the one I pay for every year will actually...

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 3.5min Read October 16, 2025 was my last day as a police officer. Listen to this instead: HERE As you're reading this, it's been a full year since I left a career I thought I'd spend 30 years in. I didn't want to spend those 30 years there, but I didn't feel like I had another choice.BUT... I did believe I was meant to do bigger things. So in the background, for those 10 years, I experimented. I tinkered. I chased a lot of shiny objects. So if you...

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 2.8min Read If you haven’t seen the movie Slumdog Millionaire... watch it when you can. I’ve referenced it a couple of times over the years, and I believe that movie is a brilliant representation of what is available to each and every one of us in life. I’m not saying everyone is going to make a million dollars or end up on a game show like that. What I’m saying is that as we go through life, every experience we have, everything we go through,...
