Just Say Yes

2.1min Read

I’m writing this right now on my phone standing next to my gate for my flight back home.

What a whirlwind of a week! It was full of content filming, ranch work (like on an actual ranch) , deep conversations, big picture talks and a whole lot of just experiencing life with good people.

This might be a slightly different email than usual, but it’s all pouring out right now as I wait for my plane to arrive.

Before you archive and go on to the next, I think you need to hear this.

I definitely did several years ago. And if you just stay for the next sentence, you’ll be better from it.

JUST SAY YES.

That’s it. That’s the secret. That’s potentially what’s standing in the way between the life you have and the life you dream of.

“Now hold on a sec, you’re oversimplifying it, that’s not what’s holding me back!”

Honestly, I don’t think so. I think that is exactly what’s holding you back.

Saying yes can mean many different things. Because when you’re saying NO to one thing, you’re saying YES to another.

A lead up example for you:

Saying yes to Netflix for a few hours a night is saying no to reading a business book or building a website or reaching out to potential clients or ANY number of things that could change your life.

But it’s so much more than just saying yes to something like that where you’re able to do it out of the comfort of your home.

Saying yes sometimes (often times) involves putting yourself in uncomfortable and unknown situations.
I can’t tell you what that exact situation will look like. It might be a gig that takes far too much time and you’re getting paid pennies, but the relationship with that person is the bigger ROI

  • It might be saying yes to take on an assignment from a boss at the w2 that you work and you crush it, which leads to a promotion and a life changing situation.
  • It might also look like saying yes to writing someone’s Twitter posts, running a community and working on content which leads to the ability to leave a very stable career and go out on your own to build a business on top of that…

  • Who knows- this all might lead to a big time failure where you learn a ton of lessons that you wouldn’t have ever learned before and then you start creating content about it and those lessons you share help you build a personal brand that companies want to sponsor and the revenue changes your life. WHO THE HECK KNOWS…

    I sure don’t.

    And neither do you.

So then WHY are you saying no so much?
There is a time and a place to say no. And you’ll figure that out. Some things just won’t feel right. Some things will be short lived. Some things won’t fit “your brand”, sometimes you literally won’t have the time…

    All those variables weigh in.

But I want you to approach the dream you’re chasing with a YES MENTALITY.

If you are always trying to find ways to talk yourself out of something, you’ll also end up talking your way out of success.

I say this on the receiving end of what saying yes does.

And yes— I’ve said no to plenty, but GENERALLY, as I’ve been clawing my way to where I am now with work, purpose, finances, happiness, etc. I have said YES.

Can you build this? YES
Do you want to do this thing for my channel? YES
Would you want to fly to Dallas to help me in my ranch and film content? YES!

As I stand here waiting to board, I feel so fulfilled and so excited at the same time— About what I’m building currently AND what’s to come.

And I want that FOR YOU as well!

But it won’t and it can’t if you don’t commit to freaking saying yes to things that 1) challenge you 2) stretch you 3) pull you out of your comfort zone.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again—
Feeling uncomfortable is just a sign that your old comfort zone is having a hard time keeping up with you.

And if you don’t believe me, as silly and outlandish as it is, watch Yes Man with Jim Carrey. That was taken too literally, but the moral of the story remains.

You rock! Thank you for tuning in with me!

Until next time...

Stay in the fight,

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 3.6min Read How often are you chasing something bigger than yourself? How many of us have had dreams or aspirations of playing professional sports, or being a sponsored athlete, or traveling the world, or building a house on a bunch of acres and raising a family there? How many of us have had big, delusional, crazy, semi-unrealistic goals that, as we got older, we let go of?Not because we wanted to let go of them. But because it almost felt like...

And if that’s the case, then that’s a good thing — because that means you’ve been listening, you’ve been hearing what I’ve been saying, you’ve been paying attention, and hopefully you’ve been taking action on what I’m about to tell you.If you haven’t, that’s okay. I will tell you this for the first time. I believe that the best...

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 2.1min Read It’s Thursday morning a little after 6am and I’m walking around my neighborhood with 2 weighted vests on, staring at my phone typing away. Oh and I also have a wireless mic clipped to the vest. In case inspiration strikes me and I make a video during the walk. If anyone really looked closely at what was going on here, they would have some questions for sure. But check this out— no one really looks that hard. And if they do, most aren’t...
