You’re kidding yourself if you think you don’t need a lead magnet right now

— When you do, you’ll be ready

— No worries, just collect the emails for when you DO have one.

— False. If you have experience with something or ANY kind of expertise OR a personal view / take on something OR even a system that you use to do something, SHARE IT.

Lead Magnets are so underrated.

The crazy thing is that they don’t have to be complicated.

They don’t have to be a 100 page ebook or an hour long tutorial video. And these days ESPECIALLY, they don’t have to be a physical product.

Lead mags can be ANYTHING. Seriously.

Let’s back up for a second here. WHY do you even want or need to use a lead mag to begin with?

👉 Lead mags are part of a transaction. The transaction is that you want to gather emails and information so that you can communicate with people that liked your lead magnet and therefore might also like the other content that you have and FURTHERMORE, might become clients of yours for whatever offer you have.

Simplified: You want information, you give a lead magnet.

We all know about this transaction. It’s not a surprise to anyone. And most are willing to provide their info if the lead magnet sparks their fancy.

All you have to do is create them.

So what can they be?

ANYTHING!

For example, I’m working on a few different lead mags right now just based on what I’m ALREADY doing. The only thing I’m changing is that I’m documenting how I’m doing it.

The other day I made a font out of my own handwriting as well as my daughter’s handwriting. It’s so cool! So now I’m putting together a step by step tutorial on how I did that.

I’ll make a video as well and then out together a Twitter post about it. I’ll share the post and then the video link, but the lead mag will be the google doc that I made with the step by steps. It’ll be for free, just the cost of an email address.

Other examples of lead magnets that I have:

If you clicked on any of these, you’ll notice that they attach to an email sign up section. For this, I use Kit.com.

All I do is set up a landing page custom to the lead mag, then when they sign up I can either send them an email through an automated sequence OR have the lead mag pop up right then.

Either works, but I like the email a little more just to introduce myself and start a dialogue with them potentially.

Since I also have a newsletter (as you already know), the email allows me to nurture them into my main sequence, which is what you are in right now.

From there, just like you are right now, I’ll send out my Sunday Doughnuts email each week and as I build out offers and other value packed trainings, I’ll distribute them here.

To be clear, and I’ve said this already, but I am very much in the trenches. I’m actively building my portfolio of businesses. I’m still in my full time W2 because thats what keeps a roof over our heads and food on the table. I’m grinding and you get a front row seat to the journey here. EVERYTHING I’m learning and doing, I share with you.

With that said, I don’t have “an offer”. I’m not coaching anyone currently on start ups of acquisitions or storage or any of the other things I do, because I’m DOING the things. I can and will create an offer, but that I’ll come later. Right now, you are getting it all for free as I work through it live and send out the lessons each week.

But when that time comes that I have an offer to release, I will have a tribe of OG followers who have been with me from the beginning that I can share the offer with.

If you don’t have a lead mag and want to create one in its simplest form, here are the steps.

• Open a google doc and write down how you do something that you think others might want to know. To add an extra touch, film a video of yourself doing it and walking through it.
• Make the doc copyable by changing “edit” to “copy”

• Create a post talking about the expertise that you have and how you can do BLANK thing and why others need to know how to do BLANK thing as well
• At the bottom of the post, say that you will send them your blueprint, just to DM you their email and you can send it right over
• Send them the doc and then save the email
• If you have an email automation system, make a landing page and collect the emails that way

BOOM. Too easy.

Also, how’s this for full transparency? This is exactly what I did to create this lead mag. Copied what I wrote into GPT and asked for a prompt. Then I took the prompt and opened a new task and entered that in.

The lead magnet is the result of the prompt. Simple as that.
