You Are Getting The Inside Scoop To A HUGE Operation

2.5min Read

As with the rest of my emails to you, I don't hold anything back and I don't plan to. Entrepreneurship is a team sport and I also believe in the law of abundance. There really is enough to go around.

With that said, I wanted to pull back the curtain on how content is produced and distributed by one of the big dogs in the industry, Chris Koerner. And at the end I share how this can be replicated by creators like you and I.

I’ll skip the long story for time sake, but if you’re just tuning in, I was a cop of the last 10 years and I left that career to pursue the wild ride of being an entrepreneur. One of the opportunities that allowed me to make that jump was to work with Chris and his team in various ways.

  1. I’m running his community
  2. I'm managing his social media content
  3. I’m pre interviewing and screening podcast guests
  4. I write a handful of his content… He’s actually a really great writer and everything that I write has been inspired by or with the foundation of his writing.

So somehow, I went from being a cop to now being the Director of Community and Media Operations... Wild.

But enough back story— here’s the juice

Being in this role I get a front row seat to how this massive media operation is ran and it’s amazing!

The overview:

Chris has 5M followers across his platforms
We produce content in all forms. Written, video (long and short), graphics, audio only, in person shoots, guest appearances, etc.

You name it, we are doing it.

It’s common to hear people say pick a platform and lean hard into that ONE… While I get it, you don't know what you don't know. You have to experiment and iterate and figure out what best fits YOUR message and YOUR content.

The only way for you to know that is to TEST it.

The team might seem big compared to what you and I are working with, but it’s actually pretty small

There’s 11 of us in total and we cover everything from video editing, content writing, podcast producing, graphic design, interview screening, story boarding, posting, analysis, audience polling, and so many more micro tasks and projects that come up.

NORMALLY, big timers like Chris have a team of 4-5 for EACH of those categories.

But one thing that Chris does different than most is:

He doesn't hire purely on skill and experience, he hires THE PERSON. Character, personality, loyalty, vision. Me for example, I don't have ANY other experience in this industry other than producing my own content for several years. I was a cop for goodness sake. But Chris likes me and offered me the position. So here we are.

This same situation is common among the team. Character > Skill

All that is cool, but how can we replicate this without needing to have a team of 11 and when we don't have 5M followers (yet)??

You do this:

1. Create an account on each of the platforms

2. Start a spreadsheet in google sheets with tab for each of the platforms

3. In the columns have “date posted, link, text, views, reposts, replies”

4. Post once a day to each of the platforms.

At first that might take an hour or so if you don't totally have your message dialed in.

But when you start to see what works, you lean in that direction

5. Keep an eye on what posts are generating the most views/ engagement (this is where the spreadsheet comes in)

6. Post more of content based on those metrics you’re seeing

7. Rinse and repeat

Figuring out your message is a longer conversation.

I believe that EVERYONE has a message the world should hear. And especially other entrepreneurs and business owners.

You are in the trenches doing the thing that many dream of. Your story deserves to be told.

All this is going to be solo yolo at first.

You will be the editor, the writer, the poster, the graphic designer, everything…

but eventually, when you can afford it, the team will come.

Having this sheet and having produced the content for yourself for so long, you will easily be able to hand off some of these roles as needed.

Wow, that was written in one breath pretty much! So much more where that came from.

Stick around and I’ll show you how I take what I’m learning from Chris so that you can apply it to YOUR content as well.

I usually write them on Thursdays and I literally don't schedule anything else in the early morning so that I can do this. It's a treat. So to think that I ALMOST had AI write this for me is WILD. Mainly because: I never thought that AI would really be able to portray my writing voice. It's not formal by any means. There's random...
