Your business is nothing without this…

Leads. Eyeballs. Traffic. Followers. Subscribers. An audience. Whatever you want to call it — at the root of it, its attention on who you are or what you’re doing.

Without that, you really don’t have anything. You could have the best idea in the world, but if you don’t have anyone to distribute it to, that’s all you have— an idea.

We forget about this. Actually we get so focused on the idea, that we’re even too afraid to share our idea with anyone because we’re worried they might steal it.

I totally get it, I’ve been there… but the reality is that people don’t take action, they think about taking action, they talk about taking action, but rarely do they actually do the thing.

That’s why you can’t worry about that. Take your idea, and run with it.

Now that we’ve covered that, back to what you really need— LEADS.

I’m going to make this super tactical for two different industries.

  1. Home service business leads
  2. Gaining followers on social media, specifically Twitter

Both of which you can build businesses on top of.

Let’s talk home service leads:

There are a TON of ways to go about this and I wish there was ONE way that worked better than all of them, but it’s about experimenting. These are several experiments you can try—

  • Local flyers in a creative way. My favorite being rock flyers that are painted

  • Connecting with people that have influence in the market (realtors, lawyers, CPAs, HOAs, Rotary clubs, etc. become there go to company for whatever service you offer
  • Partnering with other adjacent local businesses and developing a referral program. For example, connect with the owner of a painting company to recommend your lawn care company. Incentivize them to refer you in exchange for cash per paying customer.
  • Nextdoor groups. Get a Nextdoor account and start popping in the neighborhood groups and sharing your service. Same can be done with local facebook groups
  • Google business profile ranking. Set up a quality Google profile for your business and be very diligent with getting reviews. This will help you rank organically and leads should flow in with that.
  • Meta ads. This is a little more expensive. And a pain at times, BUT it works. If done right. We run meta ads for our businesses and that’s how we get the ball rolling with things. I’ve attached a FULL breakdown on how to do this from Chris Koerner, but if you need help, let me know. We have a great team that can help.

This is just barely scratching the surface, but any or all of these are worthy of trying. If you have more that you’d be willing to share, hit reply. I’d love to hear them.

SOCIAL MEDIA — I wrote up a full analysis in my experience with growing on Twitter over the last year or so. I don’t have it all figured out but I know enough to help.

Here’s the TLDR of it

Twitter isn’t just a platform — it’s a tool to build your brand, network, and business.
Over the past year, i've used it to grow meaningful relationships, stay ahead of trends, and document my entrepreneurial journey.

🔑 7 Core Lessons:

  • Treat it like a business, not a diary. Your account is your brand — share your story, mission, and lessons.
  • Lead with value. Prioritize content that helps, teaches, or inspires. Skip the fluff.
  • Be a thoughtful “reply guy.” Add substance in comments to relevant creators. That’s how you get seen.
  • Curate your feed intentionally. Follow people aligned with your goals to train your algorithm and stay sharp.
  • Use notifications strategically. Turn on alerts for 5–10 great accounts so you can jump into replies early and build connections.
  • Post about your real life. Share wins, struggles, tools, and behind-the-scenes. That’s the stuff that resonates.
  • Play the long game. Show up consistently. Real work + real sharing = real audience.

↘ HERE’s the whole thing if you want to dive into it.

Now for the bites 🍩:

BITE 1 — Children are not a distraction

I saw this the other day and had to share:

CS Lewis once wrote
"Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the most important work."

In the end, the legacy that matters won't be what you built in the world. It will be who you raised and whether they felt safe, seen, and loved in your presence.

BITE 2 — Mysterypreneur Link

BITE 3 — AI Juice 🧃

You don’t always need to be doing fancy things with AI. In this case, I literally just used it to grab a transcript of a video I recorded. Dropped the full video into Manus and it spit out a transcript. Easy Peasy

Until next time...

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 2.6min Read Because I don’t know if what I’m about to do is going to work. But I think it’s important that I at least try. So if this IS the last one... I appreciate you more than you know. Thank you for tuning in. Ok. Now that I got the hook out of the way (and possibly got you to keep reading)... I’m going to keep writing these emails. The only question is whether the email platform I’m building to replace the one I pay for every year will actually...

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 3.5min Read October 16, 2025 was my last day as a police officer. Listen to this instead: HERE As you're reading this, it's been a full year since I left a career I thought I'd spend 30 years in. I didn't want to spend those 30 years there, but I didn't feel like I had another choice.BUT... I did believe I was meant to do bigger things. So in the background, for those 10 years, I experimented. I tinkered. I chased a lot of shiny objects. So if you...

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 2.8min Read If you haven’t seen the movie Slumdog Millionaire... watch it when you can. I’ve referenced it a couple of times over the years, and I believe that movie is a brilliant representation of what is available to each and every one of us in life. I’m not saying everyone is going to make a million dollars or end up on a game show like that. What I’m saying is that as we go through life, every experience we have, everything we go through,...
