Your goals mean nothing unless you use a system like this...

1.97 min Read

If you are living a life focused on one goal to the next, you’re always going to be in a state of “pre success”.

I’m not trying to rain on your parade here, but a goal means nothing if you don’t have a system to execute.

A goal without a system is an empty promise to your future self.

If you’re just blindly chasing a goal, nothing you do will ever be enough. And most of us are. We’re drawn to the dream we see in our mind’s eye. The end result. The glory. The money. The fame.

It’s a trap that we get ourselves into though.

We have goals without systems and then we back it up with all the buzz words— persistence, consistency, motivation, PASSION, etc…and eventually we hit a goal.

So then we think “wow, there’s a correlation between hitting my goal and all those buzz words… If I just WORK HARD ENOUGH, I can make anything happen.”

Sure. The logic is there. All of those are variables and they don’t hurt by any means, but what REALLY happened was you stuck with it long enough that you were able to figure out the SYSTEM for making it work. Whether you knew it or not.

For a visual of this, let’s say you go golfing and want to hit the ball to the green. Which is the “goal” of golfing.

You put a ball down on the tee and pick up a club and start swinging wildly, with everything you’ve got.

You look like a madman just swinging the club around like crazy! EVENTUALLY you connect with a ball and it goes flying. And to your surprise, it gets pretty close to the green.

You think, 💭 ok so that’s what I have to do next time.

But next time it doesn’t work. Hmmm 🤔

Why?

Because you’re swinging like a crazy person and that’s not how you play golf.

There’s a system to a proper golf swing. The better you are at implementing the system, the better you’ll play.

So here’s MY annual system.

I’ve used this for the past few years to accomplish more each year than I EVER thought possible.

This takes parts from Jesse Itzler, James Clear, Matt Ragland and so many more experts that have inspired me.

It’s not perfect, but what it does REALLY well is collects data and allows for constant introspection on how to improve throughout the year.

Just for reference, these are a few of the things that I did last year.

  • Competed in 3 jiujitsu competitions
  • ran 4 running races including my first marathon (3:23.51)
  • Launched a podcast
  • Wrote over 400 articles
  • Grew my Twitter following 10X
  • Went on 3 family vacations
  • 6 mini adventures
  • Had a third child

I wrote a summary 2 years ago

As well as for this last year

If you want to see how much impact this kind of system can have, check those articles out.

Ok, that was the build up, here is the system. ALSO, it doesn’t have to be THIS system.

Take it and make it your own. Rip it apart and do what you want. Just come up with some kind of plan, ANY plan. Execute it. Analyze your results, iterate as needed.

It’s a couple pages, so I’ll leave it here in this doc for you to chew on.

THE BEST YEAR OF YOUR LIFE BLUEPRINT

Also, I made a video going over the entire process and the template to fill it all out.

Just to give you some background on the origin of this habit tracker— I had been using a beta version for a few years that looked like this:

WRAP

[Wins] What went well? What am I proud of in 2024?

[Results] What were the results of my goals and intentions in 2024?

[Alignment] Are my actions and habits aligning with the person I want to be?

[Pivot] Based on my 2024 review, what do I want to pivot—or plan—in 2025?

PERSONAL LANDMARKS:

HEALTH

WEALTH

RELATIONSHIPS

GROWTH

NEEDLE MOVERS

💎 MISOGI

💎 6 MINI ADVENTURES

💎 1 WINNING HABITS EVERY QUARTER

… and it worked great.

There’s nothing wrong with using something as simple and beta as this. But I wanted to take it a bit further. I wanted to build something out that was more than just a note in your phone. Something that was as substantial as the impact it will have on you life.

So I hired an Excel expert to do build it. It cost $150 for him to build it and it’s truly worth every penny. And it’s ALMOST done. I had a call with him the other day and all that’s left is to find the scrip that populates the summary percentages.

And when he’s done, I’ll send it to you for free. Theres legitimately no catch. Use it and crush your next year or don’t use it. Up to you.

All I ask is that if you DO use it, let me know what you think about it HERE and then share the template with your friends or family that might enjoy it. Use it as a Christmas gift and tel them it cost $150 ;)

If you need ANY help with it or want assistance defining your goals and how to go about building the system to tackle them, let me know.

Until next time...

Stay in the fight,

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 2.6min Read Because I don’t know if what I’m about to do is going to work. But I think it’s important that I at least try. So if this IS the last one... I appreciate you more than you know. Thank you for tuning in. Ok. Now that I got the hook out of the way (and possibly got you to keep reading)... I’m going to keep writing these emails. The only question is whether the email platform I’m building to replace the one I pay for every year will actually...

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 3.5min Read October 16, 2025 was my last day as a police officer. Listen to this instead: HERE As you're reading this, it's been a full year since I left a career I thought I'd spend 30 years in. I didn't want to spend those 30 years there, but I didn't feel like I had another choice.BUT... I did believe I was meant to do bigger things. So in the background, for those 10 years, I experimented. I tinkered. I chased a lot of shiny objects. So if you...

An entrepreneur's recipe for sweet success 2.8min Read If you haven’t seen the movie Slumdog Millionaire... watch it when you can. I’ve referenced it a couple of times over the years, and I believe that movie is a brilliant representation of what is available to each and every one of us in life. I’m not saying everyone is going to make a million dollars or end up on a game show like that. What I’m saying is that as we go through life, every experience we have, everything we go through,...
